Object notes

Material, surface and intention.

Crafted from European walnut (Juglans regia L.), this writing instrument celebrates the expressive beauty of natural wood rather than geometric perfection.

Its surface has been intentionally sculpted into an irregular landscape of gentle depressions and organic contours, inspired by ancient volcanic craters shaped by time. Every curve, hollow and transition is individually created by hand, making exact reproduction impossible.

As light moves across the sculpted surface, the warm tones of the European walnut reveal constantly changing contrasts and remarkable depth within the grain. The result is an object that invites both observation and touch, encouraging a slower appreciation of the material itself.

Finished with Renaissance Wax instead of a synthetic high-gloss coating, the wood retains its natural tactile warmth while remaining protected for everyday use.

Individually handcrafted in Munich, No. 2 forms part of The First One Hundred — the founding LIGNORAE edition, in which every writing instrument is registered as a unique object with its own permanent archive.
