The First One Hundred
No. 5
European walnut, transformed through the traditional Yakisugi process. Fire reveals the grain instead of hiding it, creating a deeply textured surface with a quiet, sculptural character. Hand-finished with Renaissance Wax in the LIGNORAE atelier, Munich.
European walnut has always been appreciated for the warmth of its grain. For this piece, however, that warmth was deliberately transformed.

Material, surface and intention.
European walnut has always been appreciated for the warmth of its grain. For this piece, however, that warmth was deliberately transformed.
Using the traditional Japanese Yakisugi technique, the surface of the walnut was carefully charred, brushed and finished by hand. Fire did not conceal the wood—it revealed it. The softer fibers retreated, while the natural structure emerged with remarkable depth, creating a tactile landscape that changes under every angle of light.
The result is a fountain pen with a quiet, restrained presence. Dark without being flat. Minimal without being cold. Every ridge, crack and subtle variation is unique, making each instrument impossible to reproduce exactly.
Finished with Renaissance Wax, preserving the natural feel of the wood while offering gentle protection for everyday use.
A writing instrument shaped by wood, refined by fire, and completed by hand in the LIGNORAE atelier in Munich.
