The First One Hundred

No. 11

A sculptural writing instrument whose unconventional silhouette departs from the traditional cylinder. Gentle curves, two subtly flattened sides and a naturally expressive grain create a form that feels as distinctive in the hand as it appears to the eye.

The most interesting shapes often exist between familiar categories.

Object notes

Material, surface and intention.

The most interesting shapes often exist between familiar categories.

Neither perfectly round nor intentionally faceted, this writing instrument was created to challenge expectations through subtle geometry rather than dramatic gestures. Its gently flattened sides and tear-like cross section introduce a quiet asymmetry that makes the piece feel alive in the hand.

Every rotation reveals a different conversation between light, shadow and grain. Rather than decorating the material, the form allows the natural figure of the wood to become the defining visual element. Hand finished with Renaissance Wax, the surface remains warm, tactile and unmistakably natural.
