Material, surface and intention.
FORMA No-1 is the first object turned in the LIGNORAE atelier. Romanian walnut, shaped on the lathe and carbonised by open flame, a controlled burning that hardens the surface, deepens the grain and produces a texture that cannot be replicated by finish alone.
The yakisugi process, applied here to a turned form rather than flat timber, compresses years of apparent age into a single session at the torch. What remains is a surface that reads simultaneously as wood and as something older, sealed, permanent, resolved.
